Blogger Issues!

Blogger seems to be having some technical problems lately. If you haven’t been able to log in, have no fear, no one else could either! I think the issue has been fixed (there was a planned outage scheduled for today, see: http://status.blogger.com), so that might have been why people were having difficulties logging in.

If anyone continues to have issues with Blogger please let me know!

Welcome to the Learning 2.0 @ SIAST blog!

If you’ve found your way here you’re probably interested in learning about and playing around with some new Web 2.0 tools.

Learning 2.0 @ SIAST is an online learning program that encourages SIAST employees to learn more about emerging technologies on the web that are changing the way people access information and communicate with one another. SIAST Library and Testing Services staff completed the program in the spring of 2008 and now we are opening it up for everyone to discover!

This website highlights 10 Web 2.0 tools. Each tool has a discovery activity to help participants become familiar with blogging, RSS feeds, video and image hosting sites, wikis, and social bookmarking (just to name a few).

The goal is to have fun and discover what Web 2.0 all about!

So what exactly is Web 2.0? Watch the video “Understanding Web 2.0″:

To familiarize yourself with this project, be sure to read the About page and the FAQs should answer most of your questions about this program. If not, then please add your question to the FAQ page as a comment or you can email Robin.

If you think the Learning 2.0 Program is for you, feel free to start with the first discovery activity “Blogs” whenever you like!

Hey Everyone! Less than one week left now to complete the activities! Everyone who completes the activities by May 30th will receive a valuable gift card and certificate of completion! And you will also be entered into the grand prize draw which is going to be one awesome prize!! So try not to miss out!

I’d like to thank everyone for their hard work and patience through this whole program! You guys did great! I know not all of the activities were easy but a big congrats for sticking in there and just having fun! I’d like to leave everyone with this little video to inspire you…

Changes to the Blog…

You might notice some small changes to the blog coming up in the next few weeks, I’m just trying to get a head start on rolling the program out to all SIAST instructors and staff, so please just be aware of that… and remember, you must have completed all of the activities by May 30th in order to receive your awesome award and have a chance to win the grand prize draw!

Flickr Bugs

Sorry to everyone who has been having problems with linking your Flickr account to your blog – you’re not doing anything wrong!

It seems like there is a bug in Flickr, and I’m not sure when it will be resolved… There have been some solutions given here, but I’m not sure if they work or not. Try this:

In the drop down box where you choose which kind of Blog you have try choosing the Blogger API setting.
It should bring up a Flickr page where you need to list the Blogger API URL, which is: www.blogger.com/api
Then the next 2 boxes are for your Blogger username and password.

If that solution doesn’t work just use Blogger’s photo upload tool instead. It does the same job, but it’s not as seamless.

Great work on the first week everyone! I’m glad that we are getting some really positive results and it seems like no one is totally lost, which is great too! Some people have almost completed the first five activities too, which is great!

I’ve posted all of the blogs that I received this week to the participant’s page now as well, so feel free check out your fellow bloggers and leave some comments for them!
